Vision Quests, Retreats, Soul Journeys,
Workshops, Classes, and Trainings
led
by Sparrow Hart and guest staff
Circles of Air and Stone offers
classes, trainings, and workshops at different locations
throughout the year. These programs are intensive, offering
participants a deep encounter with nature, both inner
and outer, and the often shifting boundary between the
two. They are appropriate for men and women wanting to
gain insight, access deeper levels of awareness, or move
forward on their spiritual path; or for anyone facing
change or searching for tools and skills to help themselves
or others. Further information is available on each program
mentioned below. Please inquire.
The Vision Quest
Each of us
has a calling, a unique voice, a song we must sing, a
vision we must enact. Each of us has the capacity to live
a life of joy, to contribute to our people and make the
world a better place. But most people in modern times
do not realize this potential within them. For millennia
people have entered the wilderness to encounter the spirit
and seek their direction, purpose, or medicine.
These programs
take place in the mountains of Vermont,
the beautiful canyons of New Mexico,
and in Death Valley, CA. They include
a thorough preparation, a 4-day solo fast, and teachings
to translate your vision into life. (Cost $700)

Mayan Adventures
January 20–25, 2008
(Yucatan, Mexico)
A sacred dream
lives in each of us -- a desire, passion, or vision that
would make us more alive, fulfilled, freer. Living this
dream involves entering the unknown parts of the Self.
This workshop combines adventure, deep explorations of
the soul, yoga and relaxation in the rich landscape of
the Yucatan. Among ancient ruins, secret caves, and underground
rivers, we will encounter our “other self”
through ritual, trance, psychodrama, and shamanic practices,
as well as relax next to the turquoise waters of the Caribbean.

The Journey of the Soul
July 13–18,
2008
There are two great mythological themes:
the heroic and shamanic journeys. In the former the hero
journeys out of the ordinary daily world into a realm
of primal forces, finding and facing monsters and allies
in a quest for healing. In the latter, the protagonist
is pulled apart and put back together in a new and more
powerful way. This workshop for men and women explores
personal myths, identifies what holds us back or drains
our energy (the dragons, enchantments, and storms raging
within us) and the promise and lure of the unknown which
frightens and fascinates us. Using storytelling, deep
imagery, dreamwork, and a rich encounter with nature and
primal reality, we will face what death means and can
teach us, befriend our fears, and quest for a dream worth
living, a sustaining myth we can weave into the details
of daily life. Green Mountains, southern Vermont. MORE

The Dreamtime:
Exploring the Left Side
September 21–26,
2008
In the Toltec worldview of Carlos Castaneda,
human beings are fields of energy in interaction with
a magical universe. Teachings for the right side -- ordinary
awareness -- focus on handling the known in a non-ordinary
way. Corresponding practices for the left side, called
dreaming, involve stepping outside the self we know into
a more fluid and mysterious reality. This week involves
instruction and immersion in this ancient paradigm, exercises
for moving beyond personal reality into a broader perception
of self and world, and practices to access allies and
invoke the presence of the great powers. This program
takes place among the stunning colors of fall foliage
in New England. MORE

in the Vision Quest
The coming millennium
challenges us to heal and integrate the split between
human and nature, mind and spirit, sacred and profane.
This training provides the opportunity to apprentice to

quest. The focus is on developing the skills and qualities
necessary to create rituals and ceremonies that promote
profound encounters between human nature and nature, and
to effectively guide others through them.

12 days long, scheduled around existing quests, and will
be tailored to your level of experience and intention.
They include, but are not limited to: instruction in myths
and allegories of the vision quest; the dynamics of initiation
and rites of passage; the relationship between the known
and unknown, dream and dreamer; physical plane skills
and logistical concerns; the development of a body of
knowledge that includes working with symbols, circles,
and medicine wheel teachings; the power and purpose of
prayer; encounters with animals and the meaning of "medicine";
the recognition of your own unique gifts, means for altering

Personal Counseling
For those
wanting to explore the issues and challenges of their
lives in the context of a commitment to a path with heart.
This work embraces a model broader than that of traditional
counseling or therapy. It emphasizes the adult over the
child, focusing on where we are going over where we have
come from, and expands relationships beyond personal and
biological history to include nature and the cosmos. It
addresses spiritual issues in our daily lives -- issues
of vision, living with integrity, and authenticity.
