Beginning May 5-7, 2017
Historically, all cultures have created (and demanded) rites of passage, some form of severance in which the child bids goodbye to dependency in order to become an adult. The Call to Adventure is for women and men ready to claim their own ground, see themselves in an authentic mirror, and discover a sacred sense of the themselves outside parents’ and culture’s view of the world. It’s for people willing to claim their strength, leave behind the adolescent stance of victim, and see their lives as a quest for authenticity and vision.
This program explores what it means to live heroically. Meeting one weekend a month for 3 months, we’ll discover hidden ways we’re still imprisoned by mother’s – father’s — culture’s view of who we should be, and realize how these stories and wounds express themselves in our relationships and lives. With the help of archetypal psychology, psychodrama, fierce truth-telling, and ritual processes, we’ll cut those cords that hold us to a child’s view of the world and break out of the superficial and soul-deadening roles our culture lays out for us.
REGISTRATION The cost of the 3-month Call to Adventure is $350 per weekend. Payment may be made monthly ($350), but we require a commitment to the entire program. If you’re unsure, you may come to the first weekend and decide before leaving on Sunday.
A deposit of $350 is required to reserve your space, and this deposit will be applied to the final weekend. If special circumstances require an alternative payment plan, these may be negotiated on an individual basis.
Upon registration you will be sent further information and directions to where we’ll meet.

The Call to Adventure is a deep dive into our present-day psyches. With the help of poetry, ancient wisdom, and mythological guidance, we’ll identify any parent-child conflicts that still live in us as we separate from adolescence, reaction, and dependency. Severing any attachment to or fascination with those old stories as well as any sense of ourselves as victims of them, we’ll come face-to-face with the Unknown in all its Fear and Fascination… and begin a journey that only we can take.
In The Call to Adventure we engage in rituals to access the heroic and integrate what’s been lost. Exploring our gold and Shadow, facing our monsters and finding our allies, we’ll enter our personal Unknown to find our power and gifts while creating self-trust and a nurturing, healthy adulthood. Discovering and embracing a larger story and context for our lives will lead us to a bigger “dream,” one that can support and guide us through life as well as heal our relationships, families, and communities.
