The Rowe
MWC is special. There‚s nothing like it
anywhere. Each year, men return, to renew themselves
and drink from the rich waters of the male spirit,
drawing sustenance from the deep emotions and
passionate spirituality that have taken root and
flowered in this totally unique environment.
Tears, ribald
laughter, ritual, myth, and masculinity weave
together as men blend into a community far beyond
the boundaries and limited expressions of the
male role in ordinary life. This community, both
tender and tribal, creates a safe and sacred space
where men can unmask and unburden themselves,
face their fears, and heal from wounds they have
carried for decades.
For all our
technological and material prowess, the modern
man lives in the smallest psychic space of anyone
in history. He feels alone and isolated. Alienated
and estranged from himself, the great rhythms
of nature which have created him, and the possibility
of participating in the cosmic story, he sacrifices
himself and labors, often at the expense of his
health, in a meaningless pursuit of success, the
"good" life unable to be defined beyond
the ability to buy more stuff.
The MWC invites
men to open the door to all they and our culture
have forgotten, to connect with something larger,
something sacred, and reclaim our potential to
be heroic. Year after year men arrive, excited
and nervous, longing to find friendship and community,
longing to renew the passion they felt as children;
longing to find a dream worth living. Each year
they leave laden with gifts, both planned and
unexpected. Most find their way back from the
head to the heart. Many discover a source of creativity,
and leave having found a poem, a mask, a story,
or a song waiting within. Many are shocked, even
stunned by the richness of their inner life, ritual,
breathwork, or trance bringing them to a self
far larger than the self they thought they knew.
As one man said, "The MWC saved my marriage
and it saved my life."
We invite
you to come and join us for a week of wonder,
a week of wildness, and a week you won't forget.
